My Declaration of Survival (LOL)
Hey there, everyone! It’s been a while, hasn’t it? I’ve been caught up with life and haven’t been posting much here, but I’ve been super diligent with my Korean blog. In fact, this week marks two years of blogging there without missing a single day! 🎉 Writing both blogs can be a bit overwhelming, so my Korean blog has been getting most of the attention.
Honestly, the Naver platform makes it so much easier to write, add pictures, and edit—it’s like blogging heaven!
Plus, switching between English and Korean can be exhausting, especially at the end of a long day when the last thing you want to do is rewire your brain to function. 😅
So, what kept me busy?
The Trip to Uluru
This trip kind of happened out of nowhere. I don’t even know how, but once it was set in motion, everything just flowed. I swear it felt like the universe organized it all (well, just like everything else, but this time it was super smooth—maybe because I wasn’t resisting? 😂).
At the start of the year, I randomly jotted down places I’d like to visit in my diary.
No solid plans, just a vague idea of "one day, it’d be nice to visit these places." The first place on the list was Uluru. Honestly, I don’t even remember being particularly interested in visiting, but it just popped up.
Then, out of the blue, a friend I meditate with said, “Uluru is a very special place. Why don’t you go there?” Huh? Uluru? What? And that was it. I thought, maybe it’s time!
I started casually checking flights, accommodations, and things to do, and before I knew it, other friends from meditation jumped on board.
Suddenly, my solo plan to stay at the cheapest hostel turned into a hotel stay with friends—yay for upgrades! Everything went so smoothly, and we had the best time. It was amazing, and I definitely need to write a dedicated post about Uluru.
I’ve already written 12 posts about it on my Korean blog, so hopefully, I’ll pull myself together and share more about it here too!
Meditation Workshop at the National Convention Centre
I was also invited to present a meditation workshop at the National Convention Centre in Canberra for theMHS annual conference. It’s a big event for people in the mental health service industry to come together, share knowledge, and exchange experiences.
The workshop was a blast because the audience was already super interested in mental health and well-being, and I got some great feedback afterward. It was such a rewarding experience!
My Side-Hustle: Korean and English Interpreting Work
Another thing that’s been keeping me busy is my interpreting work, which I do as a side hustle. Since I started posting about it on my blog, I’ve been getting more inquiries from other groups for their events.
In August, I helped a Korean cosmetics company at the Sydney Beauty Expo, and then in September, I was interpreting at the Global Foodbanking Network (GFN) Global Summit in Sydney, assisting a group from Korea.
It was four intense days, from 9 am to 6 pm, but I learned so much, and I’m grateful for the experience.
Interpreting involves a lot of preparation because every project has a different background, so I’ve been doing a lot of studying. And there you have it—my solid excuse for being busy! 😂
I’ve been meaning to write a post like this but just couldn’t get myself together. Now, I feel like I’m finally back on track with my daily routine, and I did it! A little pat on the back for me. 🙌
Thank you for reading, and here’s to thanking myself for not giving up. Even if it seems like a small effort, I’ll keep trying my best to keep up with this English blog too!
